Nothing better for hot summer daysâ¦
Obviously I am referring to ice cream. And also indirectly to my finished ice-cream-pattern skirt.
It’s a high-waisted, circle skirt, and a little on the mini side. From drafting the pattern to finishing the zipper it took about a day to complete. The pattern is a pretty basic one, since the skirt is shorter you can essentially cut the full circle right from your fabric. There’s a little math to figure out the size to cut the hole for the waist (you calculate for the radius based off the circumference of your waist), but everything else is determined by you, i.e. length of skirt = radius from the waist circle to the edge. If anyone is interested in an actual pattern and/or my sketches, just let me know.
The biggest problem I had was that I had apparently lost my sewing machine’s zipper foot, and let me tell you, zipper are NO FUN to put in with a regular foot. But an hour and a half later, the zipper was zipping just fine. The skirt isn’t lined and wrinkles easily due to the cheap fabric, but otherwise it’s pretty great!
I’m in love with it, and it’s been just perfect for the hot and humid days we’re currently having.
